The feedback you gave us in 2010 showed that the collaborations you form at ESGCT are one of the most valuable aspects of the congress so in 2011 we are offering several events designed to bring people with similar interests together.
You will need to book your place on these extra events when you register for the main conference so make sure you take a good look at the opportunities and book your place early:
Clinigene Industry Satellite Workshop:
Clinigene will once again be providing a joint platform between Industry and Centers of excellence. Look at the programme here
The joint workshop with the EMA-CAT:
If you are interested in progressing gene and cell therapies toward licensed products then this workshop will provide information as well as an opportunity for dialogue with EU regulators, biotech industry, scientists and clinicians. Look at the programme here
The Public Engagement Day:
Since 2003 the BSGT has invited members of the public, patients and students to come and learn about gene and cell therapies and to have a go at activities related to genetics and medicine. We also encourage attendance by scientists interested in explaining what they do to the non-specialist delegates. In 2011 we will build on this hugely popular day with guest appearances from Lord Robert Winston and The Naked Scientists! Check out the Public Day Flyer here Register for the BSGT and ESGCT Public Engagement Day
Themed breakfast meeting:
THESE MEETINGS ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED
Providing an opportunity to have a round table discussion with leading international experts from right across the fields of gene and cell therapy, of particular interest to young scientists and new comers. There are only 10 places per ‘theme’ available so book when you register – places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. More details on the Breakfast meetings can be found here
Careers workshop:
Aimed at graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, this workshop will feature tips on getting your research published, planning your future career path and discussions about the representation of science in the media. Sign up to the Voices of Young Scientists network run by Sense About Science and make your voice heard! There will be a drinks reception at the end to allow researchers to chat to the speakers and we are organising a social networking event in Brighton exclusively for early career researchers following the event. The session will be informal and interactive, and will highlight key issues facing junior researchers in science today.
Moderated posters:
The top 10 posters will be competitively selected and the presenters invited to give a brief overview of their work and to participate in an open group discussion lead by moderators.
Networking and meeting space:
We will provide a seafront room, free of charge for small meetings of up to 10 people for a maximum of 1 hour per meeting throughout the congress so if you want to explore potential collaborations further, come to the registration desk and we can book you in.
