Student and Early Career Researcher Board Members of the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy

The ESGCT offers up to 2 spaces on the ESGCT Board for co-opted student and early career researcher (ECR) members with special responsibilities for young investigators. The creation of the position of co-opted member for ECRs is intended to advise and support the ESGCT in building its student and post-doc community through memberships, social media and training opportunities. The position of student and ECR member is an ex-officio role whereby you would be invited to participate in relevant Board meetings, have influence but would not be able to vote.

The current term is running for 2 years from 1 May 2017; we will invite applications to have the next students on board by 1 March 2019 so that the current and incoming student and ECR board members can work alongside each other during a hand-over period.

The role is to perform the following:

  • review and suggest membership benefits for our student and ECR members
  • suggest and help implement ESGCT activities specifically benefiting ECRs
  • locate and engage with student and ECR groups in labs and institutions world-wide to encourage and manage contributions to our website and social media
  • work with the WATS.ON team to develop ESGCT's impact including sourcing content for our website and social media and growing our online audience
  • manage the onsite social media activities at the Annual Congress and Spring School

The value the student and ECR Board member would bring would be felt across all ESGCT activities, it is hoped that the following will acknowledge this value:
  • named member of the Board and position of influence to grow ESGCT's work with students and ECRs
  • attendance and influence at Board Meetings
  • complimentary membership to the ESGCT
  • complimentary attendance at the Annual Congress and Spring School, including cover of travel and accommodation expenses
  • access to and full support of the WATS.ON association management team, including line management

  • you are a student or ECR (i.e. you are a researcher with a PhD, but do not have tenure)
