As a Research Scientist within the Antibody Discovery & Protein Engineering team at Cambridge, UK you will play a pivotal role in building the capabilities in the area of virus vector engineering and virus mediated delivery of recombinant biologics.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working as part of the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering team, you will be involved in building the internal AAV platform capable of using viral approaches to deliver therapeutic proteins. Specifically, you will be responsible for developing the next generation of AAV technology for targeted delivery with improved efficacy, potency, transduction, and safety. This will be a laboratory based role, working in a multidisciplinary matrix environment to conceive, design, and execute strategies to generate novel AAV variants.

Essential Requirements

  • PhD with postdoctoral experience (or equivalent experience) in molecular Biology, virology or related discipline.

  • Prior experience of engineering viral vectors to improve gene delivery, virus tropism and protein expression.

  • Direct experience and in-depth knowledge of AAV research and gene therapy.

  • Experience of molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, viral packaging, recombinant

    protein expression and analysis.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Strong organisational ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with adenovirus and lentivirus.

  • Experience of working within an industrial environment.
