The global department Research Beyond Borders (RBB) explores emerging science and technologies, for and beyond Boehringer Ingelheims' core therapeutic areas, to create new opportunities and capabilities for drug discovery and development. RBB will help facilitate Boehringer Ingelheims' timely and efficient entry into new research fields to develop solutions in areas of high unmet medical need for the benefit of patients. A high priority scientific area within the internal RBB hub in Biberach, Germany, is gene therapy. The gene therapy team currently focuses on the development of 2nd generation AAV technologies and AAV-based therapeutic concepts.

?In your new role within the RBB Gene Therapy Team you are responsible for setting up collaborations, performing in-depth evaluations of gene therapy project opportunities, independently interacting with external partners (University Clinical Centers, academia, biotechs, CROs) and pro-actively establishing an expert network.
? With your expertise, you will lead drug-discovery gene therapy projects (technology- and portfolio projects).
?You will be part of the RBB Gene Therapy Leadership Team and have co-responsibility for establishing and implementing the RBB Gene Therapy strategy.
?You will also publish cutting edge findings in leading peer-reviewed journals and represent the RBB Gene Therapy Team inexternal meetings.
?With your experience in drug discovery research, you will actively engage in scientific discussions and proactively contribute to
the general RBB portfolio.
? Doctoral degree with Major in Biology, Biochemistry or Pharmacology.
? More than 5 years’ experience in the gene-therapy field with a track record of consistent excellence.
? Proven track record in the initiation and supervision of external collaborations (academia and biotech).
