Two postdoctoral positions available in the Gene Therapy and Regulation of Gene Expression Program at CIMA University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain).
The Programs of Gene Therapy-Regulation of Gene Expression and Molecular Therapies at CIMA University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) in conjunction with experts at the Clinica Universidad de Navarra, Asociacion de la Industria Navarra (AIN) and Bionanoplus are involved in the development of modified gene therapy vectors to target specific subsets of cells in vascularized organs, initially kidneys. The experience in the development and production of gene therapy products give us a leading position to move closer to the clinic an advanced therapy that will provide new options for chronic kidney diseases.
The groups of Dr Gloria Gonzalez-Aseguinolaza, Dr Rafael Aldabe and Dr Fernando Pastor are considering applications for two 2-year full time Post-doctoral contracts (starting october 1st) for research in “Development of a platform to generate gene therapy vectors with renal tropism”.
The project will use 3D culture and mouse models employing multidisciplinary approaches such as molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, cell biology and nanotechnology to generate AAVs with specific cell tropism. The combination of aptamer screening, 3D culture system development, molecular research with laser capture microdissection, click chemistry, vector production optimization and renal monogenic disease treatment will allow to generate a new sort of gene therapy vectors.
The candidates should have a Masters/PhD with a strong background in gene therapy, cell biology and/or animal models. Skills and experience in the following areas are highly desirable:
• Project management
• Cell biology methods like primary cell and 3D cultures
• Molecular Biology
• AAV production and animal manipulation
• Setting up and developing functional assays and analytical methods
• Furthermore, understanding of renal system function and regulation is considered beneficial
• Excellent teamwork capacity is essential
