Thursday 18 July 2024

The ESGCT hosted two e-Seminars on Thursday 18 July, organised as part of the AROUND THE WORLD SERIES in collaboration with the Coalition of International Gene Therapy Societies.

Safe and effective liver-directed AAV-mediated homology-independent targeted integration in mouse models of inherited diseases

Federica Esposito, TIGEM, Naples

Federica Esposito is a Research Fellow in Alberto Auricchio’s group at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Naples. In 2020, she enrolled in the PhD program in System Medicine. Her research focuses on development and validation of novel AAV-based platforms that could significantly expand therapeutic options for conditions targeting both proliferative and post-mitotic tissues, such as the neonatal liver and retina.

Gene therapy in a novel large animal model of Stargardt disease

Ivana Trapani, TIGEM, Naples

Ivana Trapani is Research Associate at the Department of Advanced Biomedicine of the “Federico II” University of Naples and Assistant Investigator at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM; Pozzuoli, Italy). Her main research interest over the last 10 years has been the development of approaches to overcome the small cargo capacity of adeno-associated viral vectors. Her studies led to the identification of various strategies to efficiently reconstitute large proteins through different
